The User Directory Security page is used to enable/disable all of the settings for the User Directory. It is split into two parts: the tools that relate to ePortfolio and those that do not. If you do not have the ePortfolio functionality enabled (i.e. you have not purchased the add-on), then you will not see the ePortfolio setting options on this page.  The tick boxes that appear on this page e.g. All users, Adults etc, depend on the profile sets that you have set up. If you want to configure a setting for a profile set that does not appear, you can tick the Custom box, and then select the profile set by clicking on the 'click here' link. This includes any profile sets that you have shared with another school.

Non-ePortfolio settings

User Search

Select which users the selected profile set can search for in the User Directory. Whichever tick boxes you select, will be reflected in the tick box options the selected profile set get when they click on Advanced Search in the User Directory.

Communication

[selected profile set] Can Send Email to

Select which users the selected profile set can send emails to in the User Directory

[selected profile set] Can Send Instant Message to

Select which users the selected profile set can send Instant Messages to in the User Directory

Multiple

Tick the 'Can send multiple messages and emails' if you would like the selected profile set to be able to send the same message or email to several users, rather than only to one user.

ePortfolio settings

ePortfolio Homepage

Here you can select which which users the selected profile set can see the ePortfolio of. By enabling this functionality for a particular set of users (e.g. Students), the ePortfolio icon  will appear next to their name when you search for them (if they have an ePortfolio enabled). By clicking on the ePortfolio icon , you can then view their My Homepage and their Published Resource folders.

Enabled Modules

Tick the 'Allowed to edit [selected profile set] user's ePortfolio Homepage' box if you would like users in the the selected profile set to be able to edit their own My Hompage.

Here you can select which users the selected profile set can publish their ePortfolio to. Whichever tick boxes you select, will be reflected in the tick box options the selected profile set get when they publish a My Resources folder. For example, if you select the adults and students tick boxes, when the selected profile set click on the publish folder icon in their My Resources, they will have the option to publish the selected folder to adults and/or students.
